Lawyers Concerned For Lawyers Statewide Meetings

Today, Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL) is a statewide network of independent, self-help groups for attorneys meeting weekly to support recovery from alcoholism and drug dependence. LCL is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous but meetings are based on the Twelve Steps and the principles of that fellowship.

In June 1979, Dave E., Bill K., and Al G. met in Morristown to help each other. As recovering attorneys, they felt in a lonely position. Shortly after the group formed in Morristown, groups were started in Hackensack and Point Pleasant. The meetings gathered momentum, more groups were added, and to date, there are 11 groups throughout the state. The groups join together to participate in the Annual Traditions Dinner. This dinner serves as a fundraiser for the C. Stephen Barrett III Scholarship Fund which assists attorneys obtain the treatment they need.
