New Jersey Lawyers Assistance announces a newly formed support group for attorneys who identify as LGBTQ and who are struggling with issues related to anxiety, depression, addiction or stress-related problems.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO IT ALONE.
Meetings are held once monthly on the last Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Law Center. Once established, the location of the meeting may rotate throughout New Jersey so that it is more easily accessed.
The format is based on mutual aid/self-help model and principles (similar to groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Recovery, Inc.,Emotions Anonymous, CO-Dependents Anonymous, etc.) but there is no formal affiliation with those entities. Meetings are peer-led and we are a part of a statewide network of support group meetings for lawyers, judges, law students and law graduates known as Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL). This is the only LCL meeting targeted to the LGBT lawyer population. This meeting is not intended to substitute for therapy or professional help. If referrals to on-going services are needed, NJLAP staff can assist. Call and speak to one of the NJLAP staff to see if the meeting format is a good fit for you.
If you would like more information about the meetings or to speak to a staff member, please call NJLAP at 800-246-5527. It is a confidential call and any of the staff can help you. Or send an email to Nancys@njlap.org.
